DETROIT (WWJ) – Police say a wrong-way driver who was under the influence of alcohol crashed his full-sized van on the Lodge Freeway in Detroit.

The incident happened just after 7 a.m. Friday on southbound M-10 at Howard Street.

Police say the man crashed into the median, blocking the road’s left shoulder.

According to Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw, the wrong-way driver was drunk. The man was arrested and taken to the police department, while his van had to be removed from the scene by a tow truck.
