Hunter Mahan has his priorities in order.
The 31-year-old, who held a two-shot lead after two rounds at the Canadian Open, withdrew from the tournament after his wife, Kandi, went into labor on Saturday, according to the PGA tour.
According to one report, the name is already decided.
Per ESPN’s Justin Ray, it’s just the third time in his career that he’s owned the lead heading into the third round, but Mahan, who finished ninth at the British Open last week, failed to win either instance. Fortunately, Mahan wasn’t keen on amending that stat.
Mahan shot an 8-under-64 on Friday after his opening round of 67 at Glen Abbey in Oakville, Ontario. But with Mahan out, John Merrick shared the lead with Dustin Johnson at 11-under. Johnson shot a nine-under 63 (seven birdies and an eagle) on Saturday before Merrick had even begun play.
