Man Charged In Slayings Of Flint Mother, Daughter

FLINT (WWJ/AP) - A 44-year-old ex-con has been charged in the slayings of his ex-lover and her 11-year-old daughter inside their Flint apartment.

Michael Poole was arraigned Wednesday on two counts of premeditated murder. He was ordered held without bond and is due back in court on Aug. 1 for a preliminary examination.

Police found the bodies of 42-year-old Yolanda Hill and her daughter, Cherish Hill-Renfro, last Saturday inside an apartment on Kleinpell Street near East Atherton Road, just east of South Dort Highway.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said autopsies revealed the two died from asphyxiation or strangulation, and that the girl also may have suffered a head injury.

Leyton said Poole and Yolanda Hill had an on-again, off-again relationship, but he wouldn't elaborate on circumstances surrounding the murders.

State Corrections records show Poole was released from prison in 2011 after being sentenced in 2004 to up to 15 years on car theft and drug convictions. He also has a previous conviction for assault with a dangerous weapon.
