Search To Resume For Missing Boater

LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Mich. (WWJ) - The search will continue Monday morning for a missing boater in Whitmore Lake. Officials in Green Oaks Township say a 46-year-old man apparently fell out of his boat Sunday afternoon. After the man fell into the water, the boat kept circling in the water, and the man was unable to return to it. Witnesses also attempted to rescue him, but were unsuccessful.

Dive teams from the Livingston County Sheriff's Department and several police agencies were involved in the rescue attempt.

No word on what caused the accident, but during his forecasts on Sunday, AccuWeather Meteorologist Dean Devore had warned boaters and swimmers of the possibility of dangerous water spouts.

"You certainly want to keep an eye on that if you're out boating today because of this very unstable atmosphere ... just because of the difference in the air masses between the land and the water, that's something that we can see; these water spouts kind of propagate in very quick fashion."
