GREEN OAK TWP. (WWJ/AP) – Officials say a body found earlier this week in a southeastern Michigan lake is that of a fisherman who disappeared last weekend.
The body of 46-year-old Thomas Wojtewicz was found Wednesday in Whitmore Lake. The lake is located on the Washtenaw-Livingston County line, about 35 miles west of Detroit.
A cause of death wasn’t immediately released by the medical examiner.
Authorities in Livingston County’s Green Oak Township sent searchers out on the lake last Sunday afternoon after receiving reports that a boat was circling around with no one aboard.
Police said they aren’t exactly sure what caused Wojtewicz to fall out of his boat. Witness who tried to help Wojtewicz said he attempted to get back onto the boat, but was unable to because the boat kept circling in the water.
