Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! It's the weekend again, and road work crews are expected to be out in full force across metro Detroit.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-94:

In Macomb County, eastbound I-94 will have one lane open from 11 Mile Road to Masonic Boulevard from 8 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing paving.

In Detroit, westbound I-94 will be closed at M-53 (Van Dyke Avenue) for bridge beam setting. The full closure will begin at 4 a.m. and end by 9 p.m. on Saturday. The posted detour uses the westbound I-94 exit and entrance ramps at Van Dyke Avenue.

I-75:

In Detroit, the following restrictions are scheduled for the ongoing resurfacing project between I-94 and 7 Mile Road:

• Two lanes on northbound I-75 will be closed from Holbrook Avenue to the Davison Freeway from 9 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. Friday.

• Two lanes on northbound I-75 will be closed from I-94 to Clay Avenue from 9 p.m. Friday until 7 a.m. Saturday, with the I-94 ramps to northbound I-75 closed.

• Two lanes on northbound I-75 will be closed from Holbrook Avenue to the Davison Freeway from 8 p.m. Saturday until 10 a.m. Sunday, including closures of the entrance and exit ramps from the Davison Freeway to northbound I-75.

• Two lanes on northbound I-75 will be closed from Holbrook Avenue to the Davison Freeway from 9 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday, with intermittent ramp closures at the I-75/Davison Freeway interchange.

In Oakland County, southbound I-75 will have a single-lane closure from Coolidge Road to Crooks Road from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday for bridge maintenance. The southbound I-75 exit ramp to Crooks Road will be closed during the same.

In Oakland County, southbound I-75 from Saginaw Street to M-15 will have double-lane closures from Friday at 9 p.m. until Saturday at noon for pavement marking operations.

I-275:

In Oakland County, northbound I-275 will have a single-lane closure from 8 Mile Road to 9 Mile Road from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday for maintenance.

In Wayne County, northbound and southbound I-275 will have double-lane closures to paint stripes for a traffic shift between US-12 (Michigan Avenue) and I-94 beginning at sunrise on Saturday. By sunset Saturday, traffic will be shifted with two lanes open in each direction. All work is scheduled to be completed in mid-November.

M-10:

In Oakland County, northbound M-10 will have a single-lane closure at Lahser Road from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday for bridge maintenance.

In Wayne County, the entrance ramps from Milwaukee Street and West Grand Boulevard to southbound M-10 will be closed on Saturday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. for lighting work.

I-696:

In Oakland County, eastbound and westbound I-696 from I-275 to US-24 (Telegraph Avenue) will have triple-lane closures from 9 p.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday; followed by double-lane closures on Sunday from 8 a.m. until noon for pavement marking operations.

M-85 (Fort Street):

In Wayne County, both directions of M-85 (Fort Street) at Washington Boulevard will have one lane open beginning at 5 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday.

M-53:

In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound 23 Mile Road at M-53 will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday until 10 a.m. Sunday.

Beginning the week of Monday, August 5:

I-94:

In Macomb County, eastbound I-94 will have one lane open from 11 Mile Road to Masonic from 8 p.m. Monday until 5 a.m. Tuesday for ongoing resurfacing.
