PALACE OF AUBURN HILLS (CBS DETROIT) - Evan Jankens of CBSDetroit.com shot the breeze Tuesday with new Detroit Pistons point guard Brandon Jennings, the team's latest off-season acquisition.
Watching the Pistons from the outside as a Milwaukee Buck last season, Jennings said that even then the team looked promising to him.
"The Pistons, they still had a lot of potential," Jennings said. "They've still got a lot of young guys who could really be really big-time players in this league, especially [forwards Andre] Drummond and also Greg Monroe. Overall, on paper, they always look like a team that always has potential to make the playoffs."
A longtime basketball fan, Jennings said he admired point guards Allen Iverson and Kenny Anderson, who both played in the NBA for over a decade. As a kid he wore Iverson shoes while others favored the Nikes of Michael Jordan, and Jennings said he picked seven as his jersey number because of Anderson and "Pistol" Pete Maravich.
