Treat Yourself Today For Charity

DETROIT (WWJ) - Metro Detroit is getting hit with a rare summer blizzard on Thursday.

August 8 is the day participating Dairy Queen stores in Metro Detroit will donate $1 or more of the proceeds from each Blizzard Treat sold to the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, which benefits Beaumont Children's Hospital locally.

WWJ Health Reporter Sean Lee spoke with Children's Miracle Network hospitals representative Matt Romkey.

"At Beaumont we treat over a hundred thousands kids a year, so the money that Children's Miracle Network raises goes to purchase very specialized medical equipment and helps to fund community programs like our bike day or any of out children's rehab programs," said Romkey. "It also goes to fund research."

Last year, Miracle Treat Day raised more than $5.5 million for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in across the U.S. and Canada.
