DETROIT (97.1 THE TICKET) – Doesn’t sound like much … but Michigan legislative leaders are looking to raise the state sales tax one percent to help fund roadways.
This is an alternative to taking money from the schools, which is where the sales tax on fuel currently goes. Right now none of the tax at the pump goes toward fixing Michigan roads.
Legislators think voters will approve an increase in the sales tax if they say it’s going to education verses fixing Michigan’s crumbling roads.
Would you support an increase in the sales tax?
