Events Of All Kinds Surround This Year's Woodward Dream Cruise

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - It's time to rev up those engines and cruise down Woodward Ave. this weekend.

The Woodward Dream Cruise, a staple since August of 1995, will take place on Saturday, Aug. 17 from Pontiac to 8 Mile Road.

If you don't own a classic car, it's OK. There will be plenty of live entertainment at locations along Woodward and events for everyone to enjoy surrounding this year's cruise.

Here are a few of them:

FRIDAY: Forgotten Harvest 11th Annual Champagne Cruise

One of Metro Detroit's premier Dream Cruise preview events, the Forgotten Harvest Champagne Cruise will return for its 11th year. It is set to take place on Friday, August 16 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Westborn Market located off Woodward Ave. in Berkley.

Guests will be greeted with a red carpet champagne reception featuring beverages by Atwater Brewing Pommery Brut Royal. Live music and entertainment will provided by the Randy Brock Group, the Detroit Circus and Rock the Booth. Summer chic is the suggested attire for the event. Tickets are $150 each and are available for purchase at the Forgotten Harvest website.

FRIDAY: Motorcycle Cruse Through Pontiac

At 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, a motorcycle cruise, begins at Lafayette Market, runs through St. Joseph Mercy Oakland, and then continues back to downtown. A $20 entry fee, benefits the Fallen Heroes Memorial Foundation, a nonprofit veterans' organization. Preregister by calling 248-335-8740, or register onsite at Lafayette Market, at 154 N. Saginaw St. in Pontiac.

SATURDAY: Let's Ask America Casting Call

A new national game show called "Let's Ask America" is holding a casting call in downtown Birmingham.  Host Kevin Pereira says the show asks "Family Feud" type questions but with a twist: that contestants appear by computer camera from their own homes.  They're looking for people who are opinionated. The casting is going on from 1 p.m. and 6 pm Saturday in a tent at Woodward and Maple. [MORE DETAILS]

SATURDAY: Cruise With "Potsie" & "Ralph Malph"

Update: Don Most, "Ralph Malph" has cancelled his appearance for health reasons.

"Potsie" and "Ralph Malph" will get to cruise down Woodward Ave. on Saturday, Aug. 17.

Two winners of an Art Van Facebook contest escort the former Happy Days stars for the Woodward Dream Cruise. Get your cameras ready, because Anson "Potsie" Williams and Donny "Ralph Malph" Most will leave from the Art Van Furniture store off Woodward Ave. in Royal Oak at 2 p.m.

SUNDAY: 50's Rockin & Cruisin Scoop Night Fundraiser 

For east-siders: At Ashby's Sterling Ice Cream in Shelby Township on Sunday, Aug. 18, from 5 - 10 p.m. , "Elvis ,The King of Rock and Roll" will perform his famous hits and spin many more 50's favorite tunes! There will also be complimentary face painting for the kids and a 50/50 raffle. Ashby's will generously donate 30% of all proceeds during this time to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's. Come out in 50's attire and enjoy a fun night. [SEE THE FILER]
