Few Incidents Mark 2013 Dream Cruise Says Oakland County Sheriff

OAKLAND COUNTY (CBSDETROIT) - Oakland County officials say -- so far, so good ... when it comes to arrests at this year's dream cruise.

Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard tells WWJ, he has this philosophy on cruise day:

" ... people have fun - if you can stop things with a warning ... The only thing we really don't have any tolerance for is alcohol or dangerous activity," said Bouchard.

Bouchard says that by and large it's been a quiet (police activity-wise) cruise. "The only arrest we've had was for a larceny ... he ended up having a warrant also - so that was a two-for," he said. "But that was really unrelated to Dream Cruise."

He tells WWJ just 20 traffic tickets were issued - there was one DUI, while two others were cited for open alcohol containers. Police say there was one retail fraud incident-- someone allegedly trying to sell unlicensed cruise-related merchandise.

Bouchard estimates some 1.2 million people have been taking part in Saturday's event.

And while there has been little police activity, there have been a few scrapes ... elbows and knees that is.

Tammy Williams says a car revved it's engine on the Woodward Dream Cruise route and she took a tumble leaving her with a scraped knee.

Meantime Royal Oak Fire Department First Aid says today they've treated two dozen for blisters, three folks for bee stings ... but just Williams from Tennessee for the cut knee.
