Alleged Thieves Flee Police With Kids On Board

ROCHESTER HILLS (WWJ) - A pair of Pontiac women are behind bars after police say they tried to rob a Meijer store with their young children in tow.

Rochester Hills police said — when they were called out to the store at Auburn and Rochester Road — they saw one of the women running from the store with a black duffel bag filled with stolen goods.

She was picked up by the second woman in a black van that sped from the scene, eastbound along Auburn Road.

When police eventually stopped the van — on a dead-end street — they found two kids inside, along with the two women.

The suspects, ages 21 and 26, are being housed a the Oakland County Jail pending arraignments.  Their names were not immediately released.  Expected charges include child endangerment, fleeing and alluding police, and retail fraud.

The children were placed into the custody of their grandparents.

No one was hurt.
