12 Mile Closed In Berkley After Water Main Break

BERKLEY (WWJ) - Berkley police say a water main break on 12 Mile Road west of Woodward has been fixed — but the road will remain closed until Tuesday.

A six-inch water main was shut down intermittently throughout the morning Monday while Consumers Energy cleared the ground for any potential gas lines.

In addition to commuters, people living and/or working in the area have been affected. Power to the Roselawn Park Cemetery and to a number of other area businesses had to be turned off. Power was also cut to several homes.

Deputy Police Chief Robert North said motorists cannot access 12 Mile from Coolidge, except to get to local businesses.

"And it will be closed til tomorrow afternoon with restricted lanes after that because they have road repairs to do now, now that the water main's been repaired," North said.

North s suggests drivers use 11 Mile or 13 Mile Roads as alternate routes.
