4 Killed, At Least 7 Others Shot Over Bloody 24 Hours In Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Police are on the hunt for suspects after a particularly bloody weekend in Detroit.

The toll in the city during a 24-hour period from Saturday morning to Sunday morning includes four dead and at least seven others who were shot and wounded.

Among the dead is a 17-year-old boy who was shot during a what police described as a $2 gambling game on Bliss Street near Van Dyke on the city's east side. Another man was fatally shot as he sat in his car.

Among the other shootings, a 24-year-old man was critically wounded when someone opened fire on a party bus, a 16-year-old was wounded by a drive-by shooter as he sat on his porch, and a 14-year-old was shot after a large physical altercation broke out near McNichols Road and the Southfield Freeway.

Only one arrest was made in any of the cases. A 48-year-old woman is in custody in connection with the stabbing death of a 66-year-old man who found lying on the sidewalk early Sunday morning on Gray Street near Conner.

  • 08/17/13 -- 11:30 a.m.
    CIRCUMSTANCES: In the 13900 block of Sussex, the male victim, 23, observed a large physical altercation, when he heard shots and felt pain. He received a gunshot wound to the body and was listed in good condition.
    WANTED: Unknown suspect, armed
  • 08/17/13 -- 9:45 p.m.
    CIRCUMSTANCES: In the 12100 block of Cheyenne, the male victim, 16, was sitting on the porch when the suspect fired shots from a moving vehicle (white, four door, older model Buick). He received a gunshot wound and was listed in good condition.
    WANTED: Unknown suspect, armed
  • 08/17/13 -- 10:35 p.m.
    CIRCUMSTANCES: In the 18800 block of West McNichols, the male victim, 14, was leaving the location when he observed a large physical altercation, heard shots and felt pain. He received a gunshot wound to the body and was listed in temporary serious condition.
    WANTED: Unknown suspect, armed
  • 08/17/13 -- 11:30 p.m.
    CIRCUMSTANCES: At Gallagher and E. Davison, the male victim, 15, was walking in the area when he heard gunshots and then felt pain. The victim was listed in good condition.
    WANTED: Unknown suspect, armed
  • 08/17/13 -- 11:50 p.m.
    CIRCUMSTANCES: At East Canfield and Belvidere, the male victim, 21, was attending a social gathering when the suspect produced a weapon and fired shots. The victim was struck in the body and listed in temporary serious condition.
    WANTED: Black male, armed
  • 08/18/13 -- 12:30 a.m.
    CIRCUMSTANCES: At Joy and Birwood, the male victim, 24, was attending a social gathering that was on a bus that had stopped to allow a patron to exit. The suspect then stepped onto the bus and fired shots, striking the victim in his body. The suspect exited the bus and escaped in a vehicle (silver, Dodge Durango). The victim was listed in critical condition.
    WANTED: Black male, 20s, dreadlocks, armed
  • 08/18/13 -- 1:30 a.m.
    CIRCUMSTANCES: At Cadet and Infantry, two male victims, ages 30 and 29, were seated in a vehicle (Silver, Impala) when shots were fired. Both victims were struck in their bodies. The first victim (30) has died, and the second victim was listed in critical condition.
    WANTED: Unknown suspect(s), armed
  • 08/18/13 -- 2:15 a.m.
    CIRCUMSTANCES: In the 8100 block of Bliss, the male victim, 17, and the suspect was involved in a $2 gambling game. The suspect produced a weapon and fired shots, striking the victim in his  body. The victim has died.
    WANTED: Unknown suspect, armed
  • 08/18/13 -- 3:10 a.m.
    CIRCUMSTANCES: In the 2500 block of Gray, the male victim, 66, was discovered lying on the walk, unresponsive. The victim had deep punctured wounds, and has died.
    ARRESTED: Known suspect; Black female, 48
  • 08/18/13 -- 4:30 a.m.
    CIRCUMSTANCES: In the 2200 block of Longfellow, the female victim, 64, was discovered inside the location unresponsive. The victim had punctured and laceration wounds to the body and has died.
    WANTED: Unknown suspect
