Smoke From Blaze On City’s West Side Seen For Miles, Closes Road

DETROIT (WWJ) – Drivers on the city’s west side probably noticed a lot of smoke Tuesday afternoon coming from an apparent junkyard fire near the Lodge and Wyoming freeways.

Fire 8-20-13 Meyers Lyndon 3WWJ Newsradio’s Bill Szumanski was over the scene in Chopper 950.

Szumanski said so much smoke filtered from the blaze that Meyers Road closed between Lyndon and Fenkell.

No reports of injuries …but the smoke can be be seen from miles away.

It appeared that hundreds of wooden pallets burned in the fire.
