Inforum Center For Leadership Expands Activate 2013 Class

DETROIT (WWJ) -- The Inforum Center for Leadership is launching an expanded Activate Michigan class for women entrepreneurs in September in both Detroit and Grand Rapids. Applications are now being accepted until Aug. 31.

Activate is a proven methodology taught by experienced entrepreneurs. The program guides women through idea generation and commercial viability to launch technology and growth-oriented businesses.

Activate is for women who have an idea or technology they want to commercialize, or who already have an early start-up, or who want to use solid career experience and transferable skills to unleash their entrepreneurial spirit.

Activate provides access to experts, mentors, potential funders and sponsors. The program is a 10-month applied learning course covering 40 topics with coaching and advising from local instructors. Classes are a combination of in-person or online one night per week and one Saturday per month, making it an ideal schedule for those currently working.

The course fee is $3,400. Scholarship opportunities are available. Activate Michigan 2013 will begin Sept. 16 in Detroit and Sept. 17 in Grand Rapids. Visit Inforum's website to download the application www.inforummichigan.org/activate or contact Rachele Downs, Inforum vice president, entrepreneurial strategies, at rdowns@inforummichigan.org.

Activate is a part of Inforum's entrepreneurial initiative, supported by grants from The 21st Century Jobs Fund and New Economy Initiative for Southeast Michigan.
