Tony Hawk Donates $30K To Detroit

DETROIT (97.1 THE TICKET) – This is an awesome story. How cool! There was no press release, no hype.

He didn’t want attention just posted a blog on the Tony Hawk Foundation website some time ago. That says a lot about Tony Hawk.

He was in town and made his Foundation‘s largest donation to Ride It Sculpture Park in Detroit.

The Foundation website says the Ride It Sculpture Park began as a renegade attempt to bring life back to a withering Detroit community by building a skatepark.

But the skaters and artists responsible for it have proven the effectiveness of their efforts, and now have the backing of the Tony Hawk Foundation to continue expanding what has become a shining example of the Motor City’s renaissance.

Tony Hawk has been popular for 30 years and seems to be a good guy and a good role model.

Who’s in your good guy Hall of Fame?
