Townships Get Hit With Rash Of Vehicle Break-Ins

SCIO TWP. (WWJ) - The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office is investigating a rash of vehicle break-ins.

Police say at least 20 break-ins were reported in Superior and Scio townships between Sunday and Tuesday.

More than half of those crimes took place in Scio Township during the early morning hours. Police say the Country French Estates, Arbor Pointe and Scio Farms neighborhoods were targeted.

The rest of the crimes occurred in Superior Township, with the Bromely Park neighborhood near Ridge Road being the target, according to police. In one instance, police say a victim interrupted the crime, and described the suspect as a young, slim juvenile.

Authorities are reminding residents to lock their vehicles, remove all valuable items and close their garage doors. Also, police say anyone who happens to see any suspicious activity should immediately report it.

Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents is urged to contact police at 734-994-2911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
