Humane Society Offers $2,500 Reward After Dog Attacked With Machete

MHS Offering $2,500 Reward for Information About Dog Allegedly Attacked with a Machete by Michigan Humane on YouTube

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) The Michigan Humane Society Cruelty Investigation Department is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whomever is responsible for attacking a black Labrador mix with a machete.

It happened Saturday, August 24 in the 7300 block of St. Mary's in Detroit.

MHS learned of the ordeal on Monday when a concerned neighbor called the MHS Cruelty Investigation Hotline to report the incident. "We were told the dog had been hit several times with a machete," an investigator said, adding no one in the neighborhood will say who did it.

The dog was left with severe lacerations of his legs and feet.

MHS rushed the dog to its Detroit Center for Animal Care where he is being treated for multiple, severe wounds.

"MHS is hopeful that the dog will make a full recovery," a staffer said, adding the dog is responsive to treatment and very friendly.

Having exhausted its initial leads, MHS is asking anyone with information or who may have witnessed this vicious act to contact the Michigan Humane Society Cruelty Hotline at 313-872-3401.
