Jazz Fest Underway In Downtown Detroit
DETROIT (WWJ) - The 34th annual Detroit Jazz Festival is filling up downtown Detroit with people enjoying swinging melodies and dancing rhythms. Detroiter Dr. Brenda Carson makes a weekend of it every year.
"There are quite a few people here that I would like to hear and see," said Carson. "Today, tomorrow and Monday - I'll be down here all three days."
Carson says it's the best festival in the world for her and she enjoys it because the it's free.
Alex Mejiah plays guitar with the Michigan State University jazz band - just part of the line-up over the Labor Day weekend.
"It's been great, I love it," said Mejiah. "Just looking out at all the people is fun, playing with this band is great, it's what I want to do."
