Tigers SS Iglesias Leaves Game With Shin Splints

BOSTON (AP) — Detroit Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias left Wednesday night's game against the Boston Red Sox with pain in both shins.

Iglesias left in the bottom of the fifth inning with what the team said was bilateral shin splints.

Iglesias had been a prized prospect in the Red Sox system when he was sent to the Tigers at the trading deadline in a three-team deal that brought Jake Peavy to Boston. Iglesias was batting .319 with 100 hits in 94 games so far this season.

It was not clear how Iglesias was injured, though he did have to jump out of the way to complete a 1-6-3 double play in the third inning.
