Ex-Lions Player Ronnell 'The Hammer' Lewis Arrested Again For Alleged DUI
DETROIT (CBS Detroit) What happens when "The Hammer" allegedly gets hammered? He ends up with his second run-in with the men and women in blue in four months.
Former Detroit Lions player Ronnell "The Hammer" Lewis -- who was released by the team last week -- is in hot water for an alleged drunken driving incident that happened early Monday in Henryetta, Okla.
Local news reports say cops allegedly saw his vehicle cross the line, and noticed when they stopped him there was a six-pack of beer inside. One beer was missing.
Lewis was arrested for misdemeanor DUI, police said, and faces an upcoming court hearing.
This follows an incident in April when Lewis got into a skirmish that resulted in an arrest on three misdemeanor complaints. He was booked at the time for disturbing the peace, public intoxication and interfering with official procedure.
Lewis played for the University of Oklahoma, before he was drafted by the Lions as a defensive end last year.
He earned the nickname "Hammer" while in college.
