MEDC Launches Redesigned Website
LANSING (WWJ) – The Michigan Economic Development Corp. announced the launch of its newly redesigned website, http://www.MichiganBusiness.org, which offers enhanced features to help Michigan businesses and out-of-state firms exploring growth opportunities to expand and create jobs in the state.
“Michigan offers business advantages unlike anywhere else, so we’ve revamped our website to better showcase them,” said Leslie Hornung, MEDC senior vice president of marketing, communications and public relations. “We based many features on user feedback, and visitors to the new michiganbusiness.org site will find enhanced content that is more tailored and easier to find, and all aimed at improving the overall experience for users.”
Formerly Michigan Advantage.org, the new site carries over much of the information and resources from the prior website but also includes new tools like an easy-to-use site selection database with more than 10,000 commercial property listings in Michigan. It provides global site selectors, commercial realtors, businesses and others with property, demographic and labor force information.
The site is broken down into six sections, each intended to more efficiently serve its intended external audience: Why Michigan, Start Up, Grow, Community, About MEDC and Site Selection.
The home page features the “Why Michigan” stories of entrepreneurs, business leaders and community members from around the state. The featured individuals will change on a regular basis to keep the content fresh.
The new site’s use of responsive design eliminates the need to create different sites for different Internet devices. Users will have the same experience on michiganbusiness.org whether they are accessing the site through their mobile phone, an iPad or tablet, laptop and desktop computers.
More than 100 site selectors, regional partners, business leaders and internal subject matter experts participated in focus groups to help develop the new website, and representatives from the Department of Technology Management and Budget offered input during the entire redesign process.
CiesaDesign, located in Lansing, created the new design and McCann Worldwide assisted with content and search engine optimization. The website is managed by MEDC.
Pure Michigan is a brand representing business, talent and tourism initiatives across Michigan. These efforts are driven by the Michigan Economic Development Corp., which serves as the state’s marketing arm and lead advocate for business growth, jobs and opportunity with a focus on helping grow Michigan’s economy.
