Calvin Johnson Talks About His SportsCenter Commercial

ALLEN PARK (CBS DETROIT) - For a superstar athlete who is not particularly talkative and certainly not self-promotional, Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson has been all over the TV and Internet recently.

The latest schtick, following up the "Calvin and Johnson" Nike commercial, was a SportsCenter spot in which Johnson transforms - a tribute to his nickname Megatron - into a vending machine to avoid detection in the office.

"I'm still the same guy," Johnson said with a smile. "It's cool, though, to be able to do some of those things. I actually kind of forgot I did that thing. We did in back in January or February, early in the year. It's cool. I just take pleasure in the fact that all the guys like it, family likes it."

Johnson said the idea for the skit was all set up when he got there, that he did not have input on whether he became a vending machine versus some other contraption - "it fit the setting," he said with a laugh - and that, just to clarify, he was not in the vending machine.
