Off-Duty Detroit Cop Returns Fire On Suspect Running From Accident Scene

DETROIT (WWJ) – A shooting on Detroit’s west side late Tuesday afternoon involving an off-duty Detroit police officer.

Detroit Police say the officer went to help when he heard an accident near his home in the Ashton and Schoolcraft area.

The officer chased a man, who witnesses say had run away from the scene.

Police say when the officer caught the man, he started firing at the officer .

The officer returned fire, hitting the suspect.

The man was arrested and taken to Grace Hospital.
