Woman Reportedly Stabs House Guest With Kitchen Knife

WATERFORD TWP. (WWJ) - A 40-year-old woman has been charged with felonious assault after police say she stabbed a man in the chest with a kitchen knife following an argument.

Angel Susan Abernathy was arraigned on the charge earlier this week in 52nd District Court, where a judge gave her a $10,000, 10 percent cash bond.

Police say the incident happened shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday at Abernathy's home in the 6000 block of Adamson Drive, a few blocks south of the William Lakes Road and Airport Road intersection.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 47-year-old Waterford man lying on the couch inside the home with stab wounds to his chest.

According to witness statements given to police, the victim was a guest at Abernathy's house. Witnesses further told police that the victim and Abernathy were arguing prior to the stabbing.

Police say the victim later admitted that Abernathy had stabbed him with a kitchen knife. The victim, whose name was not released, was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

Abernathy remains lodged at the Oakland County Jail.
