Snow Plow Drivers Wanted In Oakland County
PONTIAC (WWJ) - The Road Commission for Oakland County is hiring dozens of workers for the winter season.
Spokesman Craig Bryson says the position pay $17 an hour and is part-time.
"Our full-time workforce has dropped by so much over the last five or six years that we find ourselves in a position that we really don't have enough drivers left to man the snowplows for the winter," said Bryson. "So, to address that in a cost-effective way, we're hiring part-time workers to work for us for the winter and drive snow plows."
Bryson said they're looking to hire 42 people.
A lot of the work is on-call, but Bryson says workers can choose to be scheduled at least two days a week doing things like maintenance and pothole patching. Depending on the weather, plowing shift can last as long as 16 hours.
Applicants must have a Michigan commercial driver's license (CDL) with an A endorsement. Truck driving and/or snow plow driving experience is preferred.
