Police: $50K Worth Of Drugs Stolen From Oakland County Pharmacy

INDEPENDENCE TWP. (WWJ) – Police are investigating after an estimated $50,000 worth of pharmaceutical drugs were taken during a burglary.

Police say they responded to a breaking and entering alarm around 4 a.m. Friday at the Medcenter Pharmacy on Ortonville Road, just south of I-75 in Independence Township.

When deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office arrived, they noticed forced entry had been made through the pharmacy’s rear entrance. Police say the building itself was not alarmed, but the interior offices were.

According to investigators, an estimated $50,000 worth of pharmaceutical drugs were taken. Some of the missing narcotics included Dilaudid, methadone, morphine, Oxycontin, Focalin, Norco and Vicodin.

Police are now reviewing security footage to see if the suspect was caught on camera.

An investigation is ongoing.

Anyone who may have information on the incident is asked to contact the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office at 248-858-4911.
