State Trooper Suffers Head Injury In Crash On I-75

DETROIT (AP) - A Michigan State Police trooper suffered a head injury when a vehicle struck his patrol car in Detroit.

The crash happened at 6:55 a.m. Saturday on I-75.

State police say the trooper was trying to pull behind a car involved in a wreck on the highway shoulder. That's when the driver of a sport utility vehicle slammed into the marked patrol car.

The trooper was knocked unconscious and taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital. He's in good condition and is being held overnight for observation.

There were no other injuries.

A portion of I-75 was closed for about four hours for the traffic crash investigation.
