Prison Time For Man In Break-In Attempt At Kid Rock's Home

PONTIAC (WWJ/AP) - A man accused of trying to break into musician Kid Rock's Southeast Michigan home has been sentenced to at least 46 months in prison.

Brian Keith's sentence Wednesday was enhanced because of his previous criminal record.

He recently pleaded no contest to attempted home invasion, malicious destruction of a building and malicious destruction of personal property at Kid Rock's home.

Security camera footage shows a man ramming the gate and then trying — without success — to break into the Clarkston home on July 31.

The 43-year-old Keith apologized in court and blamed his behavior on bad choices and substance abuse. Defense attorney Douglas Oliver said Keith believed it was the home of someone who owed him money.

Kid Rock — born Robert Ritchie — offered some tough talk online following the incident.

"Thank God I was not on the property at the time of this attempted break in. I am an avid hunter and marksman and I will not hesitate to shoot anyone who has myself or family in fear for our lives," Kid Rock said in a statement posted on his website.

"I take the invasion of my personal space very seriously regardless of who you are and YES, I do profile people. I am currently profiling any balding white male on crutches driving a white creeper van," he added.

The singer didn't appear in Oakland County court for Wednesday's sentencing.
