Woman In Custody After Chase, Passenger Arrested For Cocaine Possession

HARRISON TWP. (WWJ) - A 22-year-old Harrison Township woman is now in police custody after leading a chase because she had warrants out for her arrest.

Amanda Mog is facing charges of third degree fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing, and entry without permission following her arrest on Tuesday.

According to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office, a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding on North Pointe Parkway in Harrison Township around 2:45 p.m. when Mog sped away, and a short chase ensued.

Police say Mog failed to negotiate a turn from North Pointe onto Metropolitan Parkway and crossed the grassy median before fleeing westbound in the eastbound lanes of Metropolitan Parkway.

Police say Mog crossed the median a second time and lost control of the vehicle near Lanse Creuse Drive, when she jumped out of the car and fled on foot.

A passenger in the vehicle, a 32 year-old Madison Heights woman, immediately surrendered to deputies. Meantime, a K-9 unit tracked Mog to a detached garage behind a home in the 26000 block of Beamer. Police say Mog refused the commands of deputies and "a conducted electrical weapon was used to gain compliance."

After her arrest, Mog allegedly told deputies that she fled because she had warrants for her arrest.

After Mog was taken from the scene, deputies offered to drive the passenger to a residence located elsewhere in Harrison Township. Police say when she stepped from the rear of the police car, deputies realized she had dumped a small cellophane envelope on the floor. According to police, the envelope contained a white powdery substance which was subsequently determined to be cocaine.

Mog, who was arraigned in 41B District Court of Clinton Township, was granted a $10,000 cash or surety bond. The 2003 Ford Taurus she was driving was impounded

The passenger, who was not named, was charged with possession of cocaine. She was booked into the Macomb County Jail, but released pending the results of a lab test.
