Just-Paroled Robber Charged With Woman's Stabbing

SUPERIOR TOWNSHIP (WWJ/AP) - An ex-con fresh out of prison for a robbery conviction has been charged in the stabbing murder of a 23-year-old Ann Arbor-area woman.

Police say the body of Shandar Turner was found Friday on the steps of her home in Superior Township where she lived with her twin 4-year-old boys.

Washtenaw County Sheriff's Spokesman Derrick Jackson said Turner and the suspect, 35-year-old Stanley W. Harrison, had a previous romantic relationship.

State records show that Harrison went to prison in 2002 for robbery and committed a weapons-related crime while behind bars. Sheriff's officials said he was released on Sept. 25 — three days before Turner's slaying.

Harrison was arraigned Tuesday on an open charge of murder and is being held without bond.

It was not immediately known if he has a lawyer.

Annarbor.com reported Turner was the daughter of Donna Turner, who was recently convicted of fatally stabbing her boyfriend in Ypsilanti.
