Fithian’s Fab Five Football Picks
By: Dennis Fithian
Michigan State -9.5 vs. Indiana: Hoosiers have a way of keeping things close against the Spartans.
Prediction: Michigan State 24 Indiana 17
Michigan -3 @ Penn State: True freshman QB going for the Lions. If Michigan can’t pull this one out, in a tough place to play, they will likely go on to lose three or four more this year.
Prediction: Michigan 30 Penn State 24
College Best Bets
South Carolina -6 @ Arkansas: Hogs have lost three straight. Gamecocks the much better team and would be a double digit favorite if they hadn’t let their last three opponents stay around in the second half.
Prediction: South Carolina 33 Arkansas 20
Wisconsin -10 vs. Northwestern: The betting line and the Wildcats is a funny thing. Just when you think there’s no way Northwestern could lose by double digits in Madison — it happens.
Prediction: Wisconsin 45 Northwestern 31
Ohio -18 vs. Central Michigan: Bobcats are the real deal in the MAC.
Prediction: Ohio 38 Central Michigan 13
Buffalo -10.5 @ Western Michigan: Bulls offense is rolling. Broncos have yet to win a game. It’s not happening here.
Prediction: Buffalo 35 Western Michigan 17
Detroit -1 @ Cleveland: Tough to pick the Lions without Megatron. Browns have an above average defense.
Limiting Jordan Cameron is the key for Lions. Detroit fans travel well to Cleveland.
Prediction: Detroit 20 Cleveland 17
New England -2 vs. New Orleans: Pats bounce back after a miserable week four.
Prediction: New England 40 New Orleans 35
Oakland +8 @ Kansas City: Chiefs stay unbeaten but barley.
Prediction: Kansas City 23 Oakland 20
NY Jets +1 vs. Pittsburgh: Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson was dominating on MNF vs. Falcons. Expect more of the same.
Prediction: NY Jets 30 Pittsburgh 20
Seattle -14 vs. Tennessee: Hard not to like the Seahawks blowing any team out when they play at home.
Prediction: Seattle 35 Tennessee 17
