Priority Health Opens One-Stop Insurance Shops Throughout Michigan

GRAND RAPIDS (WWJ) -- While traveling to pick-up a loaf of bread, gallon of milk or the kids from recital practice, Michigan residents can now squeeze in a new insurance policy along the way.

Grand Rapids-based Priority Health has opened three new information centers – in Southfield, Holland and Grand Rapids – locations where the uninsured and insured alike can get health insurance information and coverage.

The new information centers are located in Southfield in the American Center building at 27777 Franklin Road, in Holland at 250 E. Eighth St. in the downtown shopping area, and on the northeast side of Grand Rapids at 3111 Leonard St. NE. The offices are open from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

"Priority Health is committed to improving the health and lives of those we serve," said Joan Budden, chief marketing officer for Priority Health. "That's why, as the health care landscape continues to change, we are making sure that we are positioned to answer questions and provide information to help consumers make informed decisions when choosing a health plan."

Members and the public now have direct, face-to-face access to individual insurance and Medicare experts on a walk-in basis, following the government's health insurance marketplace opening for individuals Oct. 1 and for Medicare beneficiaries beginning Oct. 15.

According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, there are more than 1.2 million uninsured people in Michigan, and the state Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs says about 365,000 people will purchase coverage on the government's Health Insurance Marketplace, which the department supervises.

Priority Health offers health plans for individuals and families who buy their own insurance as well as small business employers on and off the government's Health Insurance Marketplace. It continues to offer health plan options for Medicare beneficiaries including Medicare Advantage and Medigap plans. More information about all of the health plans available from Priority Health is available on priorityhealth.com.

Priority Health offers a broad portfolio of health benefit options for employer groups and individuals, including Medicare and Medicaid plans. Its network of health care providers features 95 percent of practicing physicians available in Michigan and more than 900,000 nationwide. For more information visit www.priorityhealth.com.
