Tragic End To Search For Missing Flat Rock Woman

FLAT ROCK (WWJ) - A tragic end to the search for a missing Flat Rock woman.

Janet Mendes Lennen, 52, disappeared from the Americana Mobile Home Park on Sept. 29 and Friday evening her sister, Eva Bumbu, spoke with WWJ to report that Lennen was found dead in Monroe County.

Earlier, Bumbu said family members were beyond worried about Lennen, who suffered from bipolar disorder and had been off her medication.

"You hear stories about people missing, kids missing, and you never think it's gonna hit this close to home," Bumbu told WWJ Newsradio 950 through tears. "It's almost like your hands are tied."

"She's very sick. She's extremely bipolar ... We just want her home. She needs help — mental help; and she needs her medication," Bunbu said.

Bumbu said her sister had no money, change of clothes or her cell phone.

Anyone with information should call the Flat Rock police at 734-782-2496.

An autopsy is pending.
