Ho-Ho-Ho! Detroit Christmas Tree To Arrive Nov. 1

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - What's more than 60 feet high and weighs over 10,000 pounds?

It's Detroit's Christmas Tree, which will be hoisted atop the Downtown Woodward Fountain at Campus Martius next Friday, Nov. 1, at noon.

City officials say the tree hails from Sherman, Michigan, between Traverse City and Cadillac. Following Friday's arrival, the tree will be wrapped in 19, 000 lights and adorned in ornaments.

In addition, Downtown Detroit will be glowing with over 350,000 lights along Woodward and Jefferson Avenues, and in Campus Martius Park.

The festivities for the Detroit Tree Lighting Ceremony presented by DTE Energy Foundation  begin at 6:30 p,m, Nov. 22, with entertainment, live music, ice-skating shows featuring the  Detroit Skating Club, and  many other seasonal family activities .
