Vigil At Eastern Michigan University Draws Hundreds In Memory Of Demarius Reed
YPSILANTI (WWJ) - More than 200 people attended a march, rally and candlelight vigil for murdered Eastern Michigan University football player Demarius Reed.
Among those on hand was Kim Turnquist, who is the mother of Julia Niswender.
Niswender was found drowned earlier this year in the bathtub of her Ypsilanti apartment.
"We never want any other parent to go through what we went through, and now within less than a year, now there's two students and we are still trying to deal with Julia and her case and now Demarius and his family are going through exactly what we went through," said Turnquist.
A reward for information in the case has been doubled to $10,000.
Reed's funeral is scheduled for this weekend in Illinois.
