Runaway Teen Found, 37-Year-Old Family Friend Arrested

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Plymouth Township police say they have found a missing teenage girl after she ran away with an older man.

Lisa Schwartz said her daughter, 15-year-old Emily Lalinsky, took off with 37-year-old Robert Messer, a family friend — and both left notes behind saying they love one another.

"They're in love, they're sorry that it worked out this way, nobody can do anything to change it," Schwartz told WWJ Newsradio 950.

Lalinsky and Messer were found Tuesday afternoon in a field in neighboring Washtenaw County with what were described as minor self-inflicted injuries. Lalinsky was taken to the hospital for treatment and observation while Messer was placed under arrest.

Following the discovery of her daughter, Schwartz said she's relieved and "glad to have [her] baby back."
