Truck Driver Ejected In I-696 Crash

WARREN (WWJ) – A scary accident along I-696 in Warren shut the freeway down on Halloween.

Michigan State Police say a semi-truck was traveling westbound on 696 near Mound Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck the right wall. The driver was ejected out of the passenger side window of the semi-truck and landed on the grass.

The truck continued westbound and struck the center median.

The driver who suffered minor injuries was taken to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital with minor injuries.

Westbound 696 remained closed at the crash site at 5:30 p.m.
