Woman Charged In Alleged Shooting Of Boyfriend In the Groin

ROCHESTER HILLS (WWJ) - A 57-year-old Canton Township woman has been charged with assault with intent to murder after authorities say she shot her boyfriend in the groin.

Sheryl Ann Lamothe, also charged with possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, was arraigned Wednesday in 52-3rd District Court.

Bond was set at $100,000 cash/surety. If she's released, she'll be required to wear a GPS tether and have no contact with the victim.

Oakland County Sheriff's officials say Lamothe, Tuesday morning, shot a 54-year-old man at a home in the 400 block of Sandalwood Dr. in Rochester Hills. She fled the scene, but was apprehended a short later in the parking lot of a strip center in Commerce Township.

The victim, whose name has not been released, is being treated for a gunshot wound to his groin/stomach area.

Authorities aren't talking about a possible motive in the case.

Lamothe will be back in court a pre-trial exam before Judge Julie Nicholson on Nov. 5 at 10 a.m.
