DETROIT (WWJ) According to Detroit police, a silver Ford van was driving erratically westbound on 6 Mile near Telegraph Friday when it smashed into another car.

The 34-year-old driver of the van was arrested without incident, police said. A woman in the van was taken to a local hospital, possibly with gunshot wounds, where she was pronounced dead.

An 11-year-old boy was reportedly ejected from the van; No word on the child's injuries, but he is listed in fair condition. All three occupants of the van were related, police said.

Inside the van were several long guns and high-powered rifles, police said. The man possibly had a weapon in his hand when police approached.

The accident closed southbound Telegraph and 6 Mile Road.

Sgt. Michael Woody told WWJ the van was blowing through red lights when police starting chasing it. The van crashed into a car at the intersection of Telegraph and 6 Mile, and rolled about 1,000 feet.
