The Detroit Tigers announced they will not renew the 2014 option on Jose Veras and that Darin Downs and Matt Tuiasosopo have been claimed off waivers by other teams.

Veras, a right-handed reliever, joined the Tigers at the end of the July. He came from the Houston Astros. In 25 appearances for Detroit, he recorded a 3.20 ERA and 16 strikeouts. In the playoffs, his ERA rose to 3.60.

Downs, a lefty who posted a 4.84 ERA in 29 outings for Detroit, was claimed off waivers by the Astros.

Tuiasosopo, who mainly played left field for the TIgers in 81 games, hit .244 with seven doubles, seven homers and 30 RBIs. He was claimed off waivers by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Tigers also reinstated Danny Worth from the 60-day disabled list.
