National Adopt-A-Watt Program to be Featured at the White House

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) -- The Royal Oak-based advanced energy charity Adopt-A-Watt announced Tuesday that its founder, Thomas A. Wither, has been invited to the White House Nov. 12 to present an overview the National Adopt-A-Watt Program.

Wither will be joined by Adopt-A-Watt advisory board member Jigar Shah, founder of SunEdison, as well as the first CEO of the Carbon War Room, a Richard Branson initiative.

Wither will review beneficial features of the National Adopt-A-Watt Program that allow America's financially challenged public entities to transition to energy-efficient lighting and electric vehicle infrastructure at no cost to taxpayers.

Shah will share his vision for using "new business models and financial innovation" to help arrest climate change and "unlock the greatest wealth creation opportunity of our time." Shah's recent book is titled "Creating Climate Wealth: Unlocking the Impact Economy."

Their combined presentation will illuminate the financial benefits and stress the global importance of deploying, existing, energy-efficient technology today and not waiting for technological breakthroughs.

White House invitations have been extended to the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, Council on Environmental Quality, National Economic Council, Office of Energy and Climate Change, as well as, U.S. Department of Energy, EV Everywhere team members.
