Monroe Teen Arrested For Attempted Home Invasion

MONROE TWP. (WWJ) – Police in Monroe say an 18-year-old was arrested in connection with an attempted home invasion overnight.

Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a call of a possible home invasion in progress around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at a residence on Woodside Street, near Temperance and Telegraph roads in Monroe Township.

The homeowner told police he was inside and could hear someone jiggling door handles from the outside. Moments later, the caller said he could hear someone trying to remove a window air conditioner from a bedroom window.

When deputies arrived on the scene, the 18-year-old suspect was in the progress of removing the window air conditioner.

Police say the suspect, who was not identified, resisted arrest but was eventually taken into custody and lodged at the Monroe County Jail on charges of home invasion and resisting arrest.
