MILFORD (WWJ) – A Southeast Michigan man faces criminal charges, accused of committing a decidedly uncharitable act.

According to Milford police, Chad Lendon Stewart of Manitou Beach in the Irish Hills ran off with a collection jar from a local gas station.

Police said Stewart, 29, stole the money, meant for the Children’s Miracle Network, from a Speedway in Milford.

He was charged with larceny in a building at an arraignment Friday in the 52-1 District Court of  Novi.

According to Milford Police Chief Thomas Lindberg, Stewart is also suspected in other donation thefts around Livingston and Wayne counties.

Stewart is being held on a $50,000 cash only bond at the Oakland County Jail pending this next court appearance and possible additional charges from other jurisdictions.

Stewart faces up to four years in prison if convicted.
