DETROIT (WWJ) – A deadly house fire that broke out early Monday morning on Detroit’s west side is under investigation.

It happened between 1:30 and 2:00 a.m. on Forrer, in the area of Seven Mile and Greenfield.

WWJ’s Ron Dewey reported from the scene that the fire destroyed the entire upstairs of the two-story colonial. Police say a man in his 30s was killed in the blaze, which appears to have been concentrated in the rear of the house.

Although the upper windows of the home have been gutted, the siding remains intact, and from the back half of the house, Dewey says he could see where the flames went right through the insulation.

Arson investigators were at the scene early Monday morning gathering evidence, however, there has been no determination as to a cause.
