Giant Bronze Middle Finger Pops Up In Bloomfield Hills

BLOOMFIELD HILLS (CBS Detroit) - In swanky Bloomfield Hills, you'll find picturesque lakefront property, million-dollar homes, and a giant, gleaming middle finger made of bronze.

The gesture-shaped sculpture, that's been drawing attention and questions in the moneyed Detroit suburb, was reportedly erected by a wealthy man sending a not-so-subtle message to his former wife.

According to a Twitter user who claims to be the ex-wife's daughter, the bitter man — identified only as "Alan" —  purchased the house next door to his ex and moved in with his new girlfriend.

A short time later, the peculiar piece of art popped up pointing.

"Alan and Tiffany are the best neighbors," tweeted Lenka Tuohy, "but ew who does that lololol."

It's a message that's tough to ignore, as the statue is illuminated by a spotlight after dark.

As of Friday, it was unclear if the city would allow the statue to stay — and whether or not "Alan" had truly moved on.

"Like lol someone's not over my momma!," tweeted Lenka Tuohy.
