Jay Harris, AKA Datbull, Commits To Western Michigan

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) And just like that, apparently his dreams of rap stardom are over -- Jay Harris, a star wide receiver who turned down a full ride to Michigan State University to pursue his true love — rap music — is back in the football game.

Harris Tweeted he officially committed to Western Michigan.

And then he accepted a hearty round of congratulations.

But no one asked -- nor did he say whether this will interfere with his dreams.

The video for his first single, though, has been removed from You Tube.

In it Harris, who went by the rap name Jay Datbull, had regaled his fans in his new video "Datbull 4 Life" with tales of women throwing themselves at him and days spent "in the hood" with his friends. He was in a graffiti-covered shed of some kind where he smokes pot between shots of himself trolling in an SUV and dancing on the street — also smoking pot with his friends. It has more than 86,000 views.

Harris, who stands 5-feet-11 inches tall and weighs 162 pounds, was Philadelphia's 17th ranked senior, according to ESPN, and was the state's second-best high school wideout. He signed a binding letter of intent in February with MSU, but later turned it down to focus on his rap career.
