10-Year-Old Sues, Says Mom's Ex Won't Return Dog

FARMINGTON HILLS (AP) - A 10-year-old Detroit-area girl is suing to try to get her dog back from her mom's former boyfriend.

Hannah Wise's lawsuit claims Mitchell Rechter won't return a poodle named Mystery since the girl and her mother moved out of his home last spring.

The Oakland Press says Hannah is the plaintiff in a lawsuit filed in Oakland County with the consent of her mother, Adrienne Lenhoff. The lawsuit says Rechter agreed to take care of the dog only while they got settled in a new home.

In response, Rechter's attorney, Jonathan Jones, says the dog was abandoned by Hannah and her mom. He says Rechter is attached to the pet and wants to keep it.

Hannah is represented by attorney Robert Zawideh. A July trial is set.
