Merit Offers A Day of Knowledge for Networkers: Check out the full agenda for Networking 2013: A Summit for Network Pros,  Merit Network Inc.'s third annual summit on the state of the art in networking. The summit will be held on Thursday, Dec. 12 at the Sheraton Ann Arbor. Registration for attendees from Merit Member organizations is $79, which includes the ability to register a second person to attend at no additional charge. Attendees are also welcome to stay for OpenFlow: A Practical Introduction,  a workshop that will be held the following day in Ann Arbor. Read below for special pricing to attend both events. The keynote speaker for the summit is Joe St. Sauver,  manager of Internet2's nationwide security programs and manager of the InCommon Certificate Service. In his keynote address, St. Sauver will talk about many unsettled and problematic Internet issues that have broad effects on networkers at all levels. From IPv6 to Internet governance to BGP vulnerabilities to DDoS attacks, networking is full of tumult that also provides opportunities for staying secure and getting involved. Breakouts will include Pete Hoffswell from Davenport University on implementing a high-availability web-based service with anycast, Steven Wallace from Indiana University on software-defined networking, Jeff Crawford from East Grand Rapids Schools on Network Access Control for K-12, Nick Oas from Michigan State University on firewall setups, R.P. Aditya and Pradeep Patel from the University of Michigan on cloud-based video collaboration and migrating voice services from TDM, Charles J. Antonelli from the University of Michigan on using Wireshark and tcpdump for packet capture, Jeff Utter from Michigan State University residence hall WiFi, sponsor presentations on SDN, 802.11ac, network forensics, cloud networking and more. The event will be held at the Sheraton Ann Arbor, 3200 Boardwalk Drive, Ann Arbor. The agenda will begin with continental breakfast at 8:15 a.m., with presentations and discussions following from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Registration includes continental breakfast, lunch and refreshment breaks.
